Hey guys, i just upgraded my fixture from a 6bulb t5 that was about 6 inches from the water lines to a 250w radium bulb. i have it set to 8-10 inches above the water line, but the problem is i have no supplimental lighting, im planning to attach some ecoexotic LEDS to the sides but thats my future,

the ballast is from CoralVue and
my question is how long should i leave my mh on for?
how high should i move it

this was my schedule for my t5 setup
11:30-8:30 2bulbs b+
12:30-7:30 +2 more bulbs b+and purple +
2-5 2Coral+

heres the setup and the fixture..also this tank is mainly sps on top, and lps on the sand bed!

I would leave it on for 6 hrs a day.....
that tank looks kinda small for MH....may heat the water up real quick unless u have a chiller
maybe post a little more on your set up?

Oh sorry its a 60g 24x24x21, sump is approx. 15g controlled with apex and 2x vortech mp10. i will have a list when im done with moving!

A 250 watt MH should be okay or 24" depth, but I would keep an eye out for heat issues. I had a coworker with a 60 cube and a 250 mh that ultimately moved to LED's because of the heat.

I would start at 5-6 hours, and lift the light to 8-10 inches to start. I hope this helps.

for some reason the MH does no heat up my tank at all. my heater still comes on and i have it about 8inches above the water.

Awesome! Sounds like it should be fine then! Just keep an eye on it just in case. Follow up if you have any further questions!
