Hello All,

just got this fromia starfish a couple days ago and it’s been standing on its legs on 2 separate occasions. Seems like little red things enter the water column. Is it reproducing? Is it dying? Looking for advice! Thanks

Yeah, looks to me like you have a female star that's spawning - the red things would be the eggs. Cool!

Edit: out of curiosity, what's your lighting schedule like, and do you know your parameters right now (and the parameters of the tank it came from)?

Did well for a while but a week ago he just got caught in the flow and he never recovered. They don’t move to better areas well. Very sensitive animal. Beautiful but idk. I’m sad again haha

that sucks, I've got one now but expecting it not to live past 6 months =/

Very incredible to have one spawn in captivity. I highly doubt it had much to do with the "flow" though as a cause of his demise. Let's keep in mind these creatures are accustomed to the never predictable flows and sudden currents of the oceans. They're much hardier than that imo. Very sad he didn't make it though.
