Most our tanks have blue or black backgrounds, but I have been watching a planted tank channel out of the UK and he does a lot of frosted backgrounds. It's a slick look and got me thinking about backlighting a tank.

Anyone running a frosted background or have in the past? What did you like/not like?

I do not enjoy scraping the film off the back wall, so it's black all day long for me that hides a multitude of eye sores

do you have pic or link to it? I'm curious on what it looks like

Background starts at about 1:10, finished product around 4:20.

(MD Fish Tanks)

There's a good, finished FTS at 37:50ish. Thought it would lend itself to some neat back lighting opportunities, and even aquascaping options. It would definitely be a very different look than the standard reef/salt tank backgrounds.

It does totally look different and unique. I think with white lighting it looks better than with a blue that we tend to have in reef tanks though, maybe for a FOWLR?

Bump. Anyone doing this?

Did it years ago on an invert quarantine tank. Only found a couple photos of it but should give you a little bit of an idea. Reason I went that route was it was easier to photograph against. Downside was unless you want to constantly clean it it turns purple after a few weeks of missed scrapings and looks dirty in the mean time.
