skimming removes essential amino acids. suffice to say, if your feeding and skimming results in little to no amino acids for your corals, then something like acro power should help

I've been wanting to try acropower for awhile and probably will soon but this review is a little over the top for me lol.
I'd say it borders on sponsorship.

I’m only dosing aminos because my dry rock system warrants the need. In my previous tank with beautiful decades old Fiji rock there would be no need. Dry rock really is a whole new ballgame unfortunately.
It is probably fine. You would have to know everything that it is in to know for sure... and that will never happen. Is there a preservative in there that can break down when frozen and you might need to use it faster? No idea.
As far as I have ever heard, SPS cannot capture raw amino acids and need to get them in some sort of zoo or phyto plankton. Who know if this is actually true. They can manufacture all that they need along with the zoox. In any case, as supplements go in and out of favor**, they all at least contribute to the N cycle on the back end and probably lend some building blocks in this process.
**You could dig up all of the posts from years past about Marine Snow, DTs, Cyclopeeze and the like and just replace any of those words with Acropower and get the same trends, posts and rebuttals.

I am with Jake on this one (which sounds odd to say because I am normally on the opposite side of most of what he has to say). Acropower is great stuff. For me it is the difference between a frag existing and a frag flourishing. I tend to have low NO3 and Acropower gives me the results I want without increasing feeding, which would bring higher PO4 along with the added NO3, and I have plenty of PO4, thank you very much. I also use Reef Energy, which works well, and have used KZ Coral Booster in the past. The Coral Booster also worked really well, but like all KZ products, is really pricey and has unknown contents, so I try to forego them rather then to inadvertently overdose additives due to their lack of transparency.

First off having known Julian for 35 years now he just wouldn't put out a product if he didn't believe it would not help a hobbyist with their aquarium. Julian is always learning and investigating new ideas and techniques.
The hobby wouldn't be where it is at if Julian hadn't pushed the hobby years ago. Like anything one must be consistent with dosing the product and not over dosing the product. For me using dosing pumps works at I am always busy and I have found consistent timing every day or every other day works best with products like Acropower. One finds a balance that works for the animals under your care and you keep it there.

Yeah it probably does help some low nutrient tanks but might be hard to see any improvements on tanks with lots of nutrients that are fed well. He is making stuff to profit from it, not just be helpful. He did a lot for the hobby in the past that's for sure. There are a lot of things I miss about back then.
Just generically speaking, nearly everybody thinks that they can see differences when starting to use supplements - health, reef tank, etc. This is engrained in our mind and well covered in all of the Confirmation Bias theory out there. Also, when most people decide to dose something, it is in conjunction with an increased awareness to whatever they are doing but the increased awareness and other changes are mostly the reason and not the supplement - for example, taking Glucosamine to help your joints when you start exercising again... when the exercise is what made your joints feel better and not the supplement. In reefing, just paying more attention can do wonders, even if that means paying attention while supplementing. In order to really tell, you have to quit and see if you can then notice - this is where most supplements in every walk of life fail the test. If people tell me that they started any supplement and saw benefit, then I don't care since this is very common - if they quit and notice degradation and then started back up again and see improvement, then this is where EVERYBODY should tune in and pay attention... and see if more and more come along.

I can tell you I noticed a difference in color when using acropower then stopping and I was not the only one who noticed. Most things in this hobby are anecdotal so does that not make it true? I guess it's a bad thing to make a profit on your product now too
Believe it or not, makes no difference to me but don't categorize others experiences as false since it's only anecdotal in your eyes. If you like it then use, I know I will again. If not then don't. I'm actually excited to try the aminos that @Rakie mentioned before.

A little touchy? I never said that the stuff was snake oil, only that coral have no direct way to use it (that we know of...and we do not know much) as it is outlined by the manufacturer. If you noticed degradation when you stopped, then good. This is the idea... and you eliminated any bias. Keep using it. This is valuable.
Who said that anybody's experiences were false? It is not reasonable to take into account if somebody tested their confirmation bias before relying on their anecdotes? It is not smart to ask? I know that the thin-skinned society of today might not be able to handle it, but everybody would be better hobbyists and this board would be more useful if people asked.

How's my response touchy, wasn't meant to be. I never mentioned snake oil or you said it was? I thought we were discussing but your comments about a thin skinned society has turned my interest off. No time for that.
