Frozen foods

Frozen food is good for your system, but in controlled amounts. All food add PO4 and nutrients to your system and the same as pellets and flakes. The nice thing about frozen is there are products out there that are close to what our fish eat in the wild. I use @ReefFrenzy along with some reef nutrition products. The only better choice would be to have live food in your system and for a hobbyist that is a challenge for the average hobbyist:)

What kind of system do you have or looking to have?

Frozen mysis, geeen seaweed shrimp i rinse it all before feeding then I use turkey baster I am battling diatoms and brown hair algae

You could also rinse your frozen food with RODI water which could be of help. Just make sure feeding amounts are appropriate to the requirements of your livestock. Overfeeding certainly could be aiding to the diatom and algae problem. There could also very well be other factors at play here.

+1 to everything.

I would only suggest one tweak in that there are definitely "grades" of frozen.

Fresh-frozen, whole seafood with the guts intact, and not-irradiated will be the best, for example. The more processed into pieces the organism is, the less value. Frozen that is nothing but processed ingredients may not be any better than flakes or pellets. (Not to totally knock flakes and pellets....they can be a great supplement or over-used....much like any food or additive.)

I would also add that live foods really get short shrift these days. So many possible options! Have you fed an earthworm to your fish today???? It's not a perfect choice, but what is? They will love you for it!!!

I feed living creatures (Zooplankton, I breed it - Bryopsis, Tisbe, Tiggerpods and Artemia) and I am doing my own frost food. Severeal different fishes, shells, octopus and so on, mixed with garlic and Sanostol (vitamin fluid for children). My fishes love it! So much, that they struggle for it :)
