Frustrated with the hobby.

2 thoughts - stop NoPox and DON'T do a water change for a month (or longer). I found not doing water changes (& I don't run filter socks) my tank bloomed. I test weekly & dose Alk & cal other than that I don't bother testing for nitrates. Cheato in fuge and skimmers - they've never looked better.

Those tanks you refer to going six months between water changes are because the reefer knows what elements (nutrients not chemicals) to dose, without water changes there are some major and minor nutrients not getting added that we don't test for and eventually corals will suffer.
Yes I meant nutrients, my apologies !

I dropped the NOPOX like everyone suggested from 25ml to 7ml and look at this. This is ok??? All that husbandry was to avoid this? I'm supposed to remain calm and relaxed while this ?

All changes made should be done gradually and closely monitored to avoid large swings. You need to slow down.

Phosphates and Nitrates are caused by things you feed. The excess you have is caused by something.
The goal is to pick one method of reduction so that you have control (you had 3 ) and stick with it while you lower feeding (things like SLOWLY reducing reef energy dosage) and allow the single method to work. It’s going to be painful for a while. NoPox is a band aid to the bigger problem.

Skim wet, do water changes, add more macroalgae to the fuge and figure out what is causing the excess nutrients and slow down the addition of it.

If your fuge us lit correctly the algae will explode with those nutrients available.

Then you won’t need the bad aid.
