Lost all my DMs

This is the second time i have fragged my nicest palys to share with others only to lose them all. I had them for months and they grew very well before i fragged them. The last time this happened was a couple of years ago when i fragged my original armegeddons. Everything else is doing great. I tried eveything to save them. So i am really hoping the couple of frags i sold, made it and that i will be able to by some back in the future.

I think its about time we call give up on the DM's and similar. I had a colony of over 100 DM's, and then with a 3 period melted to nothing. Marv and I have tried probably 20 different sorces for these type of morphs, and havet been able to keep them long term. A few month at best.

man! i wonder why that is? has someone tried them in different light/flow combinations? while looking at some black sun polyps, i was told they require incredible flow that most tanks cannot provide, and usually melt away in 2-3 months.

any other input?

how long did you have the DM's original colony?

until I get my new tank's ins and outs, I won't be trying out any of the following morphs: Mauls and it's cousins (have had Saber palys from ZoaNuts for months and grew to about 50 polyps, not they won't open and look like they're gonna do the melting act!), Arms, and Wines..

Thats a bummer Beaut. I had the same expirence with red wines. I thought the darth mauls were a little hardier. These have grown like a weed for me and Ive fragged them several times... Maybe I just got lucky...

I have failed on DM's four times now. Im done trying....

I think its possibly a temperate issue

I would like to see someone try to keep them in a colder reef. even at like 75 degrees. All fo my tanks have huge flow, so im pretty sure it isnt flow related

My tank runs at about 75-76 degrees. I have had my DM's for 2 1/2 months now. Started with 5 got 7 now. I'll keep you all posted.

cool. Im interestedin your progress for sure

I keep my tanks at 79-82. Twice mine never really did anything...the other two times I got them to take off and even reproduce ok......the longest they went was about 4 months and doubled my polyps....then just went in a few days

anyway. Good luck. they are certainly nice polyps

Carbon Carbon Carbon...all my PE morphs love carbon...i always know when i need to replace mine.

As most of you know I fragged the arms not too long ago. I had 2 polyps, now about 8 full, and each of them has about 4 at their base growing. One of my original 2 from the frag, and all its 3 babies have started getting a whithered stalk and arent opening. Theres no predators or anything, and the other bunch, about 1/2 inch away from it are doing fantastic.

Im guessing they didnt take to the lights well? Or my wrasse picked at em and made em hurt too much? Dunno really, but this is the wussiest Ive ever seen my arms.

Wow sorry to that you guys lost them too. Its really wierd because evrything else i fragged at the same time is doing great. So i have no idea why.

I think the renowned DMs are just really sensitive to one thing or another. Itll be interesting to find out what

Had same thing happen to my lovely big fat valentines day massacre colony when I tried to frag it

Mauls are growing VERY well for now... will attempt to frag next week... fingers crossed.

Treylane, what temperature is your reef kept at? Ca, Mg, Alk? What spectrum/intensity of lighting are you running?
