As a new beginner, I fried fish once and don't want it happen again. Recently I saw a temperature controller which has mobile alert. Wondering should I buy a new heater or buy this temperature controller as 2nd protection.

I highly recommend the reliable titanium heater with a built in thermostat.

You’ll definitely want some type of controller on whatever heater you buy. The thermostats that come on the heaters are all very low quality. Basically every aquarium heater is low quality and guaranteed to break at some point. I’m not into the Apex due to cost but you can buy Ranco thermostats pretty cheaply and they are very reliable.

Or you can buy multiple under powered heaters so then if one breaks it still won’t be powerful enough to cook everything.
