I purchased a frag from A Reef Creation when it was first released in this thread:
https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/reef-creation/62964-somebody-call-cops-convict-has-escaped.html

It is a VERY slow grower. And, while it appears that most of the frags have died in people's tanks and it is no longer available from ARC, I've been able to keep mine healthy and it now has 3 eyes, up from the 1 it originally had.

Here is a current picture of the one I have for sale. It is approximately 1/2" in diameter and has oranged out because I have it in a bit higher light than ARC. Putting it in the shade should bring back its original colors, but I don't have a good place for it in my tank. This is the first time I've seen one of these up for resale.

Here is a picture of the frag when I purchased it.

I'm asking $850, including FedEx priority overnight shipping. There is a DOA guarantee if picked up at first delivery attempt and I have a picture within an hour of it arriving.

Based on its history, it is a temperamental coral and I only recommend it for people who have had chalices for a while.

Wow, I thought I would at least get some comments! I'll do $650 shipped. If it doesn't sell for that, I'm keeping it!

wow it morphed into a totally different looking chalice is this normal for those?

I dont see how that can be the same frag... Frag is in a totally different shape and the eye is center than that of the new one ... GLWS

No offense, but I dont think you had any comments, because it looks like a totally different chalice. Even structure and eye location are totally different. GLWS

All of those are great comments! I received the frag (shown in the second picture) last June from ARC. Early this year things in my tank started to slowly recede, including the ARC Convict and I couldn't figure out why. It took me a couple of months to realize that some of the mesh on my skimmer's impeller had broken off, so it wasn't pulling very much skimmate. After I repaired that, things started to come back. If you look closely, you can see the darker area of the original frag shape. When it grew back, the texture of it had changed. ARC had also warned me that it needed low light or it would become much more orange. However, they said that it should revert to its original colors when I put it in lower light.

doesnt even look like the same chalice at all. looks like your convict turned into an orange sherbet.

I agree that it's changed significantly. That's why I included the original picture of when I got it. The colors should revert after it being placed in lower light for a while (months?), but I'm guessing that the texture changes based on flow.

Not a chalice expert, but I have seen this chalice morph to orange under high lighting, and colors come back once in low light. The stripes especially. Good luck with the sale.
