A 40 gallon should be fine as long as you don't plan on having any other live stock in there besides a pair of clowns. I was planning on doing the same with a pair of black and white clowns that put down eggs every 2-3 weeks but the female died.

What kinda of light does it require? Beautiful nem btw.

I've never looked into the minimum amount of light required. I had this in my brightly T5 lit display tank.

It's been sitting in my sump lit by only an led 6500k light for a couple months with no issues.
