VERTEX ALPHA 250 CONE SKIMMER - $800 shipped (US only)

As much as I hate to do it, it's time to let this beast of a skimmer go. These don't come up very often, here's your chance to own a quality, monster skimmer. This is an original, built by Royal Exclusive version of the Alpha 250 (the newer Alphas were not built by Klauss at BK). As a matter of fact, this is the very first Alpha skimmer sold in the US... it's #1. :D It came from Premium Aquatics who did the initial release.

The skimmer is in great shape. The pinwheel shows very little signs of use and is not missing any teeth. All of the o-rings are intact and in great shape as well. I still have the original box which is what it's been in for the last year. I have had some issues with the original Red Dragon pump (very common after several years of use), so I'm including another Laguna 1500 motor block with the sale. The Laguna 1500's are no longer produced and are very hard to find, Laguna replaced them with the 1350 pump.

PM's replied to... not really looking for trades at the moment.

Thx,

So the red dragon pump doesn't work so it's currently using the Laguna 1500, if I'm reading that right. They also don't make the Laguna 1500 anymore so does the new Laguna 1350 work with this skimmer if the 1500 goes out? Does the 1350 and 1500 have the same performance? Thanks

The Red Dragon works, but it seems to want to shut off after running for a little while. The Red Dragon uses a Laguna 1500 motor block, the only differences being the cord on the pond version is longer and RE attaches a base plate to them. I have read several posts where guys are using the 1350 motor blocks with no issues. Vertex sells replacement motor blocks as well and I believe they are now using the 1350 to produce them.

I'm going to put it together with the Laguna and post a video of it running.
