I have for sale a Vertex Alpha 250. I have had it around 3 years and its a beast of a skimmer. Im downsizing to a 50 cube and its a bit overkill. No problems with the pump or skimmer what so ever. I am cleaning it now and the clear acrylic that sat in the water is a bit discolored but nothing major, just a little darker brown tint. We will see if it comes out with vinegar. The original pump was replaced around 1.5 years ago because my sump accidentally drained and it ran dry and melted the pump... So really while the skimmer is 3 years old, the pump is whats important and its only 1.5... Im asking $675 plus actual shipping cost. I will post pictures tomorrow once I'm done cleaning. Great skimmer and great Xmass gift for yourself lol. Thanks for looking.

guesstimating 25 lbs and box that is 16 x 20 x 26, I came up with approximately $60 to ship to residential address in 20878. Depending on photos of the unit, that's in the right ballpark to consider buying. Do you want to run your own numbers to figure on shipping? Call it $60 and be done with it? LMK

By the way, years ago, I bought the same unit in anticipation of moving to house with dedicated fish room and setting up large vat as sump. Crashed the system in the move and the skimmer NEVER saw water. and I sold it off at huge loss. Now that I am setting up a 250 -- been getting by on a 12 gallon desktop for five years -- it would be nice to get that skimmer back! Re shipping, I don't know if you've shipped a skimmer before, but I did once -- not the 250 -- and USPS cracked it. (It was a real hassle trying to get them to pay up on the insurance I had paid for.) If I were to do it over again, I would wrap the skimmer in trash bags, then put into box and squirt that self-expanding insulating foam you can get at Home Depot all around it to essentially suspend/isolate the skimmer within the box. (The trash bags prevent the foam from sticking to the skimmer and lets you break it out of its cocoon when received.)

Price Drop and Bump. $625 plus actual shipping. I was informed that this is not the newest model and that the store I bought it from may have had it on the shelf for a few years. Still, this is an awesome skimmer that I have loved.
