Hello all!

So I'm starting to dose fuel Seachem to my 75 gal mixed reef tank, and I'm just wanting feedback and insight on what sort of chemical changes it could bring. Right now I use reef crystals and also dose reef roids. Am I going overboard here?

How old is your tank? Reef roids and fuel are going to spike your nitrates and phosphates. Fuel and other coral boosters are mostly a gimmick IMO. There is some evidence that aminos may be beneficial, but its really unnecessary for most tanks and can also invite pest algae and dinoflagellates, especially in a newer tank.

So, my recommendation would be to stop the fuel and go easy on the reef roids if your tank is less than a year old. If your tank is more mature and overflowing with SPS, go for it. It may or may not have any effect other than raising your nutrients.

Yeah, it's only a year old. My alk just spiked to 14.3 and measuring my calcium now. I think I'm only going to dose this stuff sparingly

Wow that is a big spike. Nitrate addition can do that. What was your alk before? Big swings like that can kill coral pretty quickly. Make sure you lower it slowly and don’t shock everything again going back down.
