Hi again Randy, I know you dose vinegar on a regular basis and read you run a fuge as well,Can you do both? I carbon dose but thought that would out compete growing any macro. When I first set my tank up I was running a fuge but struggled to get chaeto to grow so binned the fuge and started carbon dosing but I would like to have a fuge for pods.

In my case, it slows the macroalgae, but I have several refugia, and the farther downstream from where I add the vinegar, the better the macroalgae grows. I also use Caulerpa racemosa which is, IMO, more efficient than chaetomorpha, but is a serious risk of a problem of excessive growth if it gets into the main tank. I have a foxface there for that purpose. It loves the Caulerpa and most everything else eatable.

IMO, if your macroalgae doesn't grow due to organic carbon dosing, that is fine because the bacteria are taking up sufficient nutrients. :)

Ok great thanks for getting back to me Randy
