So I had a crash few months back while traveling for work and been battling hair algae since been carbon dosing water changing 5 gallons a week 35 gallon system running phosban and plucking and it starts to recede and comes back I put a lawn mower in there and he's helping the cause but the last few weeks saw mircro algae appeared out of knowhere I've had this rock for seven yrs and never seen it before. This tanks yr and a half old down sized from a 50 gallon and went bare bottom for the first yr and added sand because I couldn't take the look anymore and needed more bio filtration win win. I have two clowns fire goby and a lawn mower Blenny no clean up crew SB reef lights, mp10, vertex 130, 5 gallon sump skimmer takes up the whole sump lol. I've narrowed it down to my rock must be packed with phosphates its old rock and when I used to travel a lot for work husbandry wasn't there like it should but now I changed jobs and am home every night i can be more diligent with it. As to the fuge my daughter had a self cleaning beta tank that's been sitting in my garage for over a yr that I've been walking past every day until yesterday I looked at it and a light bulb went off lol it's perfect woo like a 31 yr old little kid I grabbed it and bull dozed my through 4 kids and my wife to my tank lol and cleaned it up and plucked some saw blade macro algae that showed up out of knowhere and started a fuge it's been up for a day now but it works tank over flows into this mini tank and a pipe comes from the bottom and gravity feeds it out so all the water gets pulled through the algae and into the sump thought I'd share if anyone has limited space . Best of all it cost 12 bucks .

Pretty sweet thanks for sharing!

That monti on the top was 10 inches around at one time moisture got in one of my power strips and killed the power and shut the tank down and tank drained to sump on my old 50 gallon and left it exposed all night while I slept I was able to save a dime size peice and it's been a painful slow grow back
