Everybody’s tank is different some get away with the cheap lights from the big box stores others choose to spend the money for the better lights. It’s up to you because Chaeto is very tough as long as you have nutrients I’m sure you can get away with most lights. I use the Neptune Gro and it works and is pretty cheap but if your just starting off get a cheap light to see if it grows for you, if you have no nutrients then the light is not going to do much for you anyway.

for sure i am just getting setup when my bioload starts to max out i will start up the chaeto ill let the tank tell me when she is ready

I bought one of these. Cut a piece of screen to cover/dim the lamp so I could attach the lamp directly to the box and added a $10 timer to the plug. Total was under $70 and my chaeto has tripled in size in the last 6 weeks. Works like a charm.

Depends on the size of the fuge. For mine, a single Kessil H80 works just fine.

It’s good for 20-55 gallon. The box is 12 inches long. I attached the lamp using two-sided gorilla tape.

I have this same light and I throw out about this much chaeto every week or two.

I am 3 weeks in on my new 100 gallon setup
so thinking i need to have my refugium up and running in the next 3 to 4 weeks before i pop my lights on and start adding my algae eating fishies and inverts
