Full brightwell bio brick in qt system

I am getting my qt system up and running ( 13.5 gal) and I am wondering g if it's OK to put an entire brightwell bio brick in the system. This may seem like a stupid question and probably is to you, but from what I read anything under 50 gal says to cut it in half. Would this do too good of a job if the entire brick was in the system? Any negative affects if I do?

I can’t see any problems with using ‘more block than the minimum’ needed, but I hate those blocks. When they crumble (disintegrate) in your sump like a bag of gritty brown sugar, IMHO you will be sorry. At least try to have the block laying in a plastic box of some sort to catch the crumbles.

I think it's fine, but likely overkill and a waste of an expensive block when a simple sponge is probably sufficient in a small QT setup. For reference, I've successfully used on several occasion a simple 3.5 inch HOB sponge in a 40g QT for about 4-5 fish.

You may be able to clean it afterwards, but questionable if you want to reuse it in a DT if you assume the porious nature of the block. I personally wouldn't reuse rocks after copper in a coral tank. A brick is ALOT of rocks. =)
