I'm really tor on what to do. I have a WB 6025 set up for 7 months now with all good equipment bought new but i used dead rock and about 85# of rock i bought 5 years ago that i gave a muriatic acid bath to and stored. So all dead rock to start off the tank.

QT'd all my inhabitants and everything, fish, snails, shrimp, crabs are all healthy but dang can i kill an SPS. over $1k from @Battlecorals dead.......friends donating, dead.......everything start to crap the bed 2 weeks after being in there......some recover, look to be on a good path then die.

$300 worth of IPSF biodiversity.......nothing but i do have a lot of pods at night.

So i'm looking for thought on a rock swap. i love my scape and its why i used and collected the pieces i got but after 7 months i have to "assume" something with the rocks isn't clicking.

Just sent out two ICP test (tank and a fresh mix)......TBD till next week.

Thinking of getting 100-150# from either KP aquatics or gulf-view...........let it marinate for 45-60 days and swap in the new for the old.

Appreciate your thoughts......the below article is my situation to a T.......swap or wait out the dead rock, but for how long?

So frustrating.......into this tank for half an f150 so spending another thousand is low on the concern list!

I always start by saying I’m new to the hobby but...imo 7 months may be too little, especially with dry rock. Did you cure the rock and how long did you cycle? Maybe it just needs a little more time for everything to stabilize

Rock was cured for about a month, maybe a little more........more just to get it wet. Cycled it with Dr. Tims

Have a nem in there from month 2 which has done well. Its certainly possible that 7 months is too early but on my last 120 i had sps colonies at the 7 month mark

yeah, that's my question.......is moving to a ocean pulled/farmed LR a good move? using dead rock a long painful journey?
