Full Size IM Ghost Skimmer- Help?

I came upon an IM SR120 120gal AIO tank for a deal that i couldn't let get by me. The tank came with 2 ghost skimmers. Are these skimmer just BAD? Is there a trick to properly adjusting them?
Does anyone know of any mods or pump alternatives to make them more effective?
Share any experience, good or bad, with these skimmers!

I can tell you that my brother has the same tank and has 2 of those skimmers on there also and they suck. He had the 80 gallon IM before, with 1 of those ghosts, and it malfunctioned and dumped all the skim mate back into the tank.

If you look around, and are interested in a better skimmer, Tunze makes a model that fits in there. I don't know how good it works, but it can't be any worse, lol.

Yeah, I know of the other models. Not particularly interested in buying another okay skimmer. I did see that Deltec made a similar in tank skimmer but it looks like it's been discontinued.
There has to be a way to hack this thing into a better peice of equipment!
