Just felt like giving the auto focus a workout on the new lens. Not too bad, but with only 10" of tank height, theres little room to work with.

Nice shots, Paul. I think I have better fish shot results using manual focus, but your lens delivered well. It looks like your flash is off camera?

Yep flash was mounted on a tripod, shooting remotely.

Yeah, i usually do manual focus for everything, but with so little tank height to work with, its hard to get any of the fish to just "hover" around long enough to get a good focus...that...and...well...they are wrasses.

I love getting out to the LFS to shoot better fish pics.

What kind of wrasse is that?

Its a yellow coris wrasse. Not often people have/keep them long enough for them mature into adults. They normally have three black spots on the dorsal fin, but as they mature they loose those, get a new one in the front of it, and the crazy stripes start showing up in the face. Not sure if they are going orange or green...or both...one of my favorite fish.

Ok. I knew it's face looks like my radiant wrasse's face, but it's body is the color of a yellow coris. Guess I should have put the two together. I guess I never have seen an adult yellow coris. Beautiful pictures BTW!!!

I think just the males get that pronounced coloration...I had a pair in a 1,500 back in Maine and they used to spawn as well-the male developed that greenish markings on the face-sweet pics Junior!

Thanks guys, ive always loved my yellow coris, and then when i started seeing his transformation, I was really excited. Great fish in terms of function too, single handedly saved my zoa collection a couple years ago. This thing is a scout sniper when it comes to pests....

Well....and he ate about 400 tiny blue leg hermits....which now he is finally bored with with.
