So this past weekend I finally assembled my FOWLR tank and got my live rock and sand all settled in. No fish yet, but I do have a hitch hiking Asterea snail who likes his flat piece of live rock.

The cycle seems to be stable for now (bought pre-cured live rock from a local store, and all my readings seem good). So I am hoping to add my first fish soon (a christmas wrasse). Looking forward to updating here with pictures/hearing what anyone thinks.

The lid wasn't on it when I took the picture. But I do have one that covers the top.

Other plans are for a pink head goby, and a long nosed hawkfish

When I started my new tank and this thread, I had planned on only running it a FOWLR. But the allure of colorful corals quickly broke me and I haven't been able to resist. Here are just a few of the corals I've gotten over the past few months.

With a nice tank and scape like that it would have been a shame to leave it as a fowlr lol

If you ever are interested in switching to reef and don’t want to spend tons of money, you could get a simple Elive LED strip light and a couple extra bulbs.. they’re pretty cheap and will grow most low/ medium light requiring corals just fine[emoji4]

As for the tank, I personally like having a black background so I can’t see equiptment hanging over

Actually the current plan is to have some gsp grow up the back. I have a rock of it leaning up the back now, and its already starting to grow up

Actually, having just gone through an incredibly dramatic loss of my tank a couple weeks ago, I began a new tank. Starting this new tank with top tier hardware has made things FAR more enjoyable than my previous 93g corner tank. Corner tanks S U C K. They suck so hard. My advice, get a corner tank. Suffer with it for a few years. Get rid of it and get a rectangular tank. You can’t truly appreciate a rectangle till you’ve had a corner [emoji4]

Thinking I finally have all my corals where I want them, figured I'd update the thread with a picture. Something to reference when everything (hopefully) fills out.

Also wanted to show off the Stylophora growth I've had in the month since I've moved it to the top of my rock work (I'm very proud)
