Fungal Infection? Lineatus Wrasse

Hey team,
Another issue that’s popped up. I have this male Lineatus in quarantine (received 5 days ago) he’s developing this fungal looking infection around his face/mouth. Not sure if it’s columnaris or something else. Doesn’t seem to bothered by it at the moment and has been eating.
I have been dosing kanaplex In the last transfers but that hasn’t really helped. There’s no meds in this transfer (today) and these some carbon for water quality.

Any suggestions? Maybe sulfaplex or continue with dosing kanaplex? I was thinking about adding it to their food with focus which might help absorb it better. I was alsogoing to do a MB bath on him as well?
He does appear to have a little fin rot as well looks like he’s been in the wars at the LFS

There is a female Lineatus and a laboutei wrasse in the same tank they seem perfectly fine.

Gave him a 30min methylene blue bath - seems to be a bit more lively after that. Didn’t eat today Looks like the flesh is peeling away from the skeleton on his mouth. Also has a little bit of fin damage on the top fin

Not liking my chances on recovery at this point.

another question I have is it contagious?

Columnaris is a freshwater fish disease. Additional, all Saprolegnia fungus are freshwater as well. Newly imported wrasses are prone to mouth damage (from rubbing the shipping bag, the QT sides, etc.) This in turn gets infected from the litany of bacterial present in every tank. The general course of action is to dose a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic. Kanaplex should meet those requirements. As you mentioned though, once the bone structure of the jaw is involved, the fish stops feeding and then it is difficult to bring them back around. I would not expect this to be highly contagious to the other fish, unless they also have injuries.

Yes - continue dosing kanaplex (within label directions). Methylene blue is helpful in case I am wrong and it is a fungus. However, it is difficult to dose properly...does the label on your product indicate how much to add for a bath? Daily baths are typically what is recommend.

Okay great thank you will do - looks worse again this morning. Not sure how this will play out but signs aren’t good unfortunately. Might need to separate him from the others.

yep the bottle says 5ml per 20l (1ml per 4L) which aligns with humble fish’s advice on the MB page which says 1ml per gallon. I used a 5l tub for a bath (filled it up to 4L) so I went with 1ml MB
