Has anyone here that has a Fungia plate coral ever had it change color and then change it back. last night when i got home from work i looked in the tank and everything was fine with it. i walked out of the room came back about an hour later and he was all brown, then when i woke up this morning it was back to normal all purple with bright green tentacles. it was weird because it all happened so fast :ooh:

hmmm. maybe its a "leather coral" type response where it goes all looking like crap to "shed" then back to normal?

very well could be that.... cause it looked great today...i do have my lights on timers so maybe it was preparing for dark to do whatever it was doing because it started doing the color thing about 30 min before the daylight lights go out and the moon lights kick on

you must have been dreaming about having a brown fungia.

haha thats funny you say that because i was wondering if i did dream it, but i was brought back to reality when my girlfriend said i showed it to her last night also

Eric fungia's can change color. As far as that fast that is a mystery other than was there any light change at the time? Something like some of your tank lights were off when it looked brown and when it looked purple other lights happen to be on?
The biggest extreme color change I have seen for Fungia is over time. The Fungia pic on that jar I gave you is pink. It was green and when I increased the light intensity over time it ended up pink. This was a zooxanthellae change. Yours maybe a reflection of light change. ?
