ive had this mother colony for quite some time and it is very healthy. I also 5 large fungia’s from this colony that are separate now. I am thinking of offering this to my LFS in trade for a torch or something. Any idea what this might be worth so I don’t get ripped off?

That's really cool, I've never seen a plate colony like that, only individuals!

A single green plate would probably around $50 retail.

I wouldn’t take any less than around $200 from your LFS, the colony is probably worth $300-350 retail I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere for sale, very unique.

That is awesome I have never seen a colony before. Can you please let me know the environment it is growing in (par, flow)?

Sorry no idea on on the value.

This is in my small reef (60G) with medium flow, on the sand bed and 30” under a Mars Aqua Chinese black box light. I don’t have a PAR reading on it. I feed frozen to the clowns and Goby in there and the colony just catches the leftovers. Honestly this has been a hands off coral the entire time I’ve owned it and it just keeps flourishing. “If it’s not broken don’t fix it”!!!! I also have a Monti cap coral in there and a Monti dimpling coral that are doing excellent also. I have never dosed this tank just 10G WC weekly.

How do they form a colony like that? Does a baby start budding on the edge and as it grows it pushes the pile up? Do they break off easily or are the children pretty firmly attached to mother?
