Anybody else get polyp extension like this on their Millis/Prostratas?

They look like little water balloons with a polyp sticking out.

Everything is encrusting/growing/coloring well so I assume they're happy.

Can say I have never seen that before. Looking forward to an ID.

Virus, bacteria...immune respones.
How long have the corals been like that?
Do you run a UV?
Out of curiosity what are the values of the big three?

No recent swings. All have been in my tank for a few mo now and encrusted on to my rocks.

Flow is good, lights are strong enough

The polyps are always like this and ballooned up and they sway around in the flow like normal polyps? They never retract and look normal and it’s on every single mille?

I have 7-8 Milli's/Prostratas and this phenotype is present on 4 of them. The last two pics are of a piece that has a milli/prostrata on either side of it that has a more standard look.

Have an ASD rainbow elsewhere in the tank that looks normal as well.

On the pieces that do this, it is whenever the lights are on for sure, possibly at night as well (will have to check)

Very strange looking. Is the tissue inflated as well? What kind of lighting are you running?

Only the tissue directly around the polyps balloons up like this to to my eyes. If I didn't know what polyps on a Milli are suppose to look like I would think these are just strange acros with funky polyps.

Lighting is Orphek Atlantik V4.2 X 4 end to end across an 8' X 30" footprint. I ramp up to 100% on all channels over a 2hr period and ramp down over 2hrs after 8hrs on.

I have at least one piece showing this 12" deep in moderate light, 8" deep with full and moderate light. Color up, encrusting and new growth are following a typical timeline (brown/green for a few wks and coloring up steadily since then).

Flow is: 4x MP40, 1x neptune Wav, 1X Tunze 6105, 500gph return flow split to two 1/5" seaswirls

Next door to last pic is this
Poorly focused more normal looking milli polyps

Very odd for sure, I've never seen anything like it, it looks really cool. But I don't know if this is a good thing. Lol. It could be an infection affecting the polyps of the same coral types. I'd keep an eye on the other 4 you said arent showing signs of this and see if it spreads.

How did the polyps become this way? Did one start and spread to the next? Or did they all start showing signs at once? Did these pieces ever show signs of normal PE?

Ever seen a milli do that. All my milli are fuzzy/ hairy. Don’t look normal to me.
