Funnest Part of Reefing

I'm kinda curious as to what everyone else prefers, it's a big hobby with a really diverse amount of opinions

Most "fun" thing is probably getting new corals/fish/inverts/equipment. Most satisfying bit is definitely after you do a water change or some deep cleaning and your glass is sparkling and corals look happy... That's the best. Seeing coral growth is immensely satisfying

while there is tremendous visual appeal in the colors and geometry in reef tanks, I also get equally great pleasure pondering the dynamics of the ecosystem down to the billons of microfauna I cannot see.

While I wouldn't list it as happiest, not on the list is the DIY aspect which is less for functionality (since we can buy just about anything) and more for self gratification.

Gardening with plants is very gratifying. Successfully gardening with invertebrates in water's equivalent of a desert is that much more gratifying.

I also am really interested in microfuana, but I'm more interested in larger inverts, haha. I love biodiversity, which is why I love reefs. It's really fun to replicate that in aquariums and see the dynamic between all the different organisms.

I love seeing the microfauna too, when a little amphipod darts out of a rock it makes my day (and usually one of my gobies too, because they usually catch the pod pretty quick)

Seeing people’s reaction when I tell them how much something costs . They just don’t get us reefers . My wife always tells me I have expensive taste lol . Perfect hobby [emoji108]

Ha ha ha ha, when you're a freshwater enthusiast thinking reefers are idiots but then are spending more than the cost of an entire freshwater setup on corals (I wish I still prefered freshwater, it was so much cheaper)

I'm happiest when I see something cool pop up from the live rock that I didn't add. Even after 12 years I'm seeing new stuff come out.
