I thought I'd start a thread about funny fish stories and I'd love to hear yours. BTW, I'm still new to this hobby and my aquarium has only be set up for about 6 months but it's been so much fun. Anyway, I have a Mozambique Blenny in QT and I check on him a couple of times a day to feed and such. I have a heater mounted to the inside and sometimes I can't find him. If I look hard enough, he's asleep with his body draped over one of the suction cups that attaches to the plastic mounting bracket. I've never seen a fish do anything like that!

It wasn't really funny, ha ha, but it was definitely the oddest thing my fish have done yet. I put ten peppermint shrimp in my tank to eat six or so small aiptasia. Almost immediately my Melanurus wrasse began to eat them. He couldn't swallow them because they were too large so he had a small portion of the shrimp in his mouth and the remainder was sticking out. His solution was to repeatedly bump the protruding shrimp against the overflow column or tank glass until he was able to push it down his throat. He ate 9 the first day and on day 2 he finally caught the last one. I paid $25 for the PM shrimp so I was a little aggravated. A week later I realized that he had also eaten two skunk cleaner shrimp. Those cost me $60 bucks so the aggravation factor was a little higher. I still haven't caught him but maybe today is the day.

About 2 years ago I was working in my tank and my large black and white female clown latched on to my hand, I whipped my hand out of the tank so fast she went flying across the room, slide down the wall and flopped under the couch. It probably took me about 1 minute to figure out where she landed and another minute to move the couch to retrieve her. She was quite the dust bunny when I returned her to the tank.

A year later she decided to take on the 3 foot bristle worm that lives in the tank and ended up like this.

As you can see she has survived all that drama, she is a bad **** clown.

wow trish.. that stinks... I think mine ate my cleaner too. never saw it after I put it in the tank. I have a blood shrimp though now.. I see it every once in a blue moon. well.. i just checked.. its gone.

Yeah, someone told me that he wouldn't eat the cleaners because he would recognize the color difference and know they weren't food. LOL. Pretty sure that guy's eyes were brown.

I can see the humor but as someone who's mysteriously lost 2 Peppermint Shrimp without a trace, I see the aggravation factor! On another hand, I saw a Blue Legged Crab eating the innards out of a Nassarius Snail and I think he was after his shell. All I could do was shake my head.

It doesn't matter how many extra shells I keep in my tank my crabs still fight to the death over shells. I swear there can be two identical shells, one empty and the other inhabited and they never go for the empty one. They have to kill something.

Ok I got one.
I bought some macro algae last night and before I placed it n my refugium I notice a few bristle worms on it, so I took my adsons with teeth and started taking each worm out of the macro algae which wasn't hard to do and I placed them in a bowl of fresh water straight from the "TAP". this morning when I woke up I went in there to my tank and I had left the bowl setting out and you wouldn't believe it but the bristle worms were still alive and crawling around. Tried to take a picture but it turns out blurry. now I want to know why can't our fish and corals be that hardy?

I got one from today...
I got home today and right when I walked in the door I noticed my tank was all cloudy. I start running through all the things it could be in my head. Kalkwasser overdose?...no fallen powerhead?...no bacterial bloom?...no
Then I see my brand new diamond goby i got yesterday poke his head out from under a rock....i had completely forgotten I got a new fish yesterday...lol

Ok I have another one.
I went to a members house to buy a skimmer and also bought a sally light foot crab after only reading about them on live aquaria. My wife wanted the crab and I said ok. After acclamation I decided to do a little more research and found lots of unhappy stories about them. So I didn't want to break down my whole tank to catch it, and I tried the inverted 2litter with a larger whole so the crab could gain access. Well after 3 days not 1 fish, hermit crab, shrimp or Sally crab went it the bottle to eat any treats. Either all my tank inhabitants are really smart or really really dumb. Just like me for not doing more research first.

Bristle worms are great. I don't know why everyone kills them.

I like bristle worms and want a sally light foot crab. I would even take those occasional gorilla crabs that show up for my 2 gallon Aqueon Evolve invert tank.
