Question to anyone that has had multiple tanks if you think it's worth the extra time to go with a custom dimension for a larger tank or take something larger but standard from any of the other known brands like red sea or waterbox. I'd have a stand built by somebody other than the tank builder if I go that route.

Thought of potentially going with something like 60x36x20. Would likely be more of a fish only system, maybe to keep some of the larger angelfish and butterflies. Any recommendations on system dimensions for fish like this? Would this size be suitable or do they need a longer distance to swim?

If you go for custom build you can get exactly what you want and how you want it designed

If you go for a standard tank you get what you get, but these are sometimes ideal for new reefers while learning etc.

I have both, and I would now go custom built every time, no hesitation

And I would go as big as you can fit in, to ‘try’ and avoid future upgrades!

If I wanted something like an imperator angel and maybe 1 other that size and some butterflies and a handful of tange which includes a naso would the tank need to be longer than 60in or would the total volume seem reasonable? I think overall it came out to something like 225 gallons whatever height I previously plugged into the calculator.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
