Hey guys my tank has been going for a little under a month now and I found this "fuzz-like" stuff on my Live Rock. The smaller section up top showed up about two weeks ago and as for the larger section I just found it tonight. Does anyone know what it is? How to fix it? If it's a common pest? The only big change in the tank is two coral frags I got. Which where dipped, however the smaller spot appeared before the frags where even ordered.

Looks like some kinda of sponge, its hard to tell in the pic. Take the rock out and take a close up

I will do that tomorrow I work nights so it should be up by 7ish at the latest tomorrow and yes it does look to have pores. I did buy the rock live if that helps for right now.

Here are the pictures. The more I look at it out of water it almost looks like an algae.

I would say it's a sponge to. It's not a bad thing even though it'll probably die off now that it been exposed to air.

Oh ok, Well I'll know for next time and is it just like another invertebrate in the tank? Oh and thanks guys

A+ on Sponge;)

FWIW, they are a very good thing IMO, as long as they're not reflective of a nutrient problem nor an indication of excess silicates, which form their skeletal structure. They are very effective filter feeders, food for some types of fish, and an integral part of every healthy SPS tank, IMO. They usually stick to the shaded areas of the tank.

I have seen some colonies become a nuisance, particularly black and yellow varieties.

We'll see what the experts say.
