Fuzzy Chitons

Hello all:

I was looking for opinions on Fuzzy Chitons for hair and general algae control. Worth it or not? They're really cool looking critters but nobody lives in my tank rent free. They have to put in some work. I have a 65 gallon Red Sea Reefer and have hair algae growing on some coral plugs. My current CUC consists of conches, nassarius snails, trochus snails, tuxedo urchins an algae blenny, a biscuit starfish, Mexican Turbos, Cerith snails and assorted hermit crabs. I also have some amphipods running around. I have algae in a dark area under an arch that nobody seems to want to attack. It's by no means out of control but it bothers me. Any thoughts?? TIA.

A healthy tank will have some algae, so if it's really just in one spot you might be better off living with it...

But fuzzy a chiton would probably be cool

I've read that they are slow but very effective at filliementus algae(gha, turf, bryopsis ulva) removal since they chomp into the rock itself so they get the roots too.

Also if its just a small spot try getting a toothbrush with flossing bristles it has been very effective for me, the flossing bristles get into the rock's pores and remove the roots.

There's always that one dentist that uses a steel brush and cement mix on his teeth. He never recommends toothbrushes, floss, or toothpaste.
