I’ve been thinking of getting a fuzzy dwarf lionfish they look really cool. Can anyone tell me much about them. What’s the pros and cons.

I haven’t kept any of the dwarf lionfish, but as with all lions you have to be careful selecting tank mates for them. What size is the tank and what other fish will you be keeping with it?

Worth it. I picked up this one a few weeks back. It eats mysis, chunks of shrimp, squid, trying a few other foods top, but by far its favourite has been live mollies, but due to nutritional needs, I only used those to get it to eat, as it didn't touch food for over a week when I first added it.

That being said, if you have any fish you like that are 1-2 inches, depending on the size of your lion, they will become lunch.

This is Sebastian!
They are 1000 percent worth the purchase with a few caveats. The main thing is that they are pooping machines so I have experienced that tank maintenance is more frequent to keep phosphate levels down for my corals, if you have a live rock only tank then this wouldn't be a big issue. I cant speak for his behavior around other fish because he is the only fish in my reef tank. but other than being sloppy and potentially eating your smaller inverts, snails not included, they are great fish.

He eats silversides, squid, krill, three times a week and sometimes goes for my fingers because he is such a little pig.lol they can be time consuming to train onto frozen but a little controlled starvation (nothing over a week in my opinion even though some say they can go longer I felt too bad and caved and fed him some ghost shrimp.haha) and patience and one day they will just hop onto the frozen diet. Their personalities are amazing they will get to know you and interact with you at the glass. They will occasionally shed which is normal and nothing to worry about. and aren't aggressive at all towards you messing around with stuff in the tank, sometimes mine gets curious and will swim around my arm but nothing has ever happened, and their sting isn't deadly just unpleasant so nothing to fear (unless you're allergic to bees) as it can potentially have a similar reaction. If you do encounter a sting run it under as hot of water as you can handle and it will neutralize the structure of the toxin they produce. They are reef friendly fish and he will sometimes sit on top of my montipora or leather corals has never done any harm at all to either of them.

Overall I highly recommend them, they can be lazy in the day and sit on rocks but be more active at night swimming the reef and "hunting" on it even though there is nothing for him to hunt. they grow to around 6 ish inches so they are not large fish at all. hence the Dwarf in their name.lol I have nothing but good things to say and I don't think you'll be disappointed if you decide to bring one home!

Sorry for the late reply, I'm new on here but owned aquariums for years!
