Can any of you tell me what this is on my live rock? Kinda fuzzy looking. Do I need to do anything?

There's different species of hydroids, but typically they are small jellyfish like creatures or digitate hydroids look like a sort of spiney fishing lure waving around usually the result of low flow so you find them in pony tanks or fry tanks alot. They can sting your fish though and corals I think not sure so I would try to get rid of them. Probably came in on your live rock or brine shrimp eggs.

I looked at images on Google for colonial hydroids and that is what mine looks like in the first picture. Not sure what the white patches are in the other picture. How do I get rid of the colonial hydroids? I've read to let them be and they will die off. But I don't want them stinging or killing my corals. Is there a CUC that would specifically get them?

Im not sure on how to get rid of them I just upped my flow and moved my frags away took about 2 months till they disappeared. Is it an established tank or some what new? Mine were only around the first few months after starting the tank

Use that fluval 2 part epoxy and cover them up. Wear gloves so you don't get stung if you get poked. Some might disappear, others can multiply fast. I've heard many people say hydroids took them out of the hobby. I wouldn't take chance with them.

The other white patches look like sponge which I wouldn't worry about. Beneficial filter feeders.

Also in the pic with the sponges, that thing at the top that looks like a fan worm may be a hydroid. Or it could just be a fan worm. Tough to tell.
