I ended up breaking down my 90g because I had a mojano infestation along with red planaria. After dipping all coral and keeping in holding tanks for 3 months, I have begun to see quite a lot of red planaria in my new 150g. Despite having 5 wrasses in my tank, including a Melanarus, the red planaria continue to be a problem.

They are not out of control yet, but from my last experience, I know how quickly they can become a huge, ugly problem. For the last two weeks, I have been siphoning out as many as I can. I still see them on and around the rocks, but they are not crawling on glass and have not ever reached those kinds of numbers in this tank.

I was told recently by a local hobbyists that I should just do a FWE treatment in the whole tank. I'm leaning towards this, but I am concerned about the toxins they release and the possiblility of a tank crash. He mentioned since I've been siphoning them out, and their numbers aren't real bad yet, that it would not hurt and to just do a large water change.

Any thoughts or experiences with treating whole tank with FWE, is appreciated

Never tried the FWE but have used yellow coris wrasse and scooter blenny and they diff work to eradicate the planeria.

I would do it, but have plenty of saltwater on hand to do massive water changes.

Almost bought a yellow corris, went with a green and it died, so I got the melanarus instead. Never thought of a scooter blenny.

Get a velvet nudibranch they eat them
Thanks for the suggestion, never knew about these.

I am still looking at doing FWE instead of adding any new livestock, so if there are any other first hand experience with this product in the display, would love to hear about it.

Make sure you do a big water change adter startinf flatworm exit treatment as you can nuke your tank as when the flat worms die they become toxic.so you need to vacuume as many dead flatworms as possible. This is why I suggested velvet nudibranchs

Are all those things floating in your tank, red planaria? If so, I can tell you I definitely do not have those kind of numbers. Any effects on your livestock/corals? How big of water changed did you do after treatment?
