This is going to sound crazy and I did an impulse buy to try and fix a problem. I have a 40 gallon breeder with two (2) Tidal 55 HOB filters. I ran into an algae problem, panicked, and bought an FX4. Once I got it home the intake was longer than the tank was deep, and brackets didn't really fit well on the outside of the tank as well. The filter was on the tank for a few days before I got someone to come in and help. Turns out the lights were the culprit. The flow from the FX4 in the 40 didn't seem to bother anything in the tank, mostly fish, and softies. I want to put the filter back on the tank to get good flow, but know the plumping, specifically the intake is the issue. Anyone else run into this, have a solutions, or should I scrap it, and eat the loss? I appreciate the help.

No reason at all to scrap it. That's a great filter. I run one on my frag tank. What specifically is the issue?

If the tank is shorter than the intake is long, Just put the intake at an angle. I'm running it on an 11" high tank

Hi, never thought of that but then how do you attach to the side of the tank? Maybe I'm over thinking this, was thinking I'd have to get a different intake assembly all together.
