Do you think 1 G4 Radion would be adequate for the red sea reefer 250?

I don't have any experience with the radion, looking at the spread of the 15 and 30 you'd have to do two 15's.

Thanks! I've actually been watching your videos on YouTube. :) You do a great job with them.

You would still need two of the fixtures. Max spread is 32x32 recommend is 24".

Thank you!!!

So two xr15 with wide angle lens may give better coverage than a single xr30 with wide angle lens?

I have two G4 XR15 on my Reefer 250. I don't think one XR30 would cut it. Also the G4 don't have a choice in wide or regular lenses.

@pelphrey are you still running your Kessils and how do you like them on the 250?

Right now I am running two Kessil A160's controlling them with the Apex. I've never used any other light, but I've seen a few and I can't bring myself to put another light on my tank. For now the 160's are working, I'll be looking to replace them with the AP700 shortly and hanging it from the ceiling. I do have my 160's hanging from the A Series mounts and these mounts are much better than the goose necks. I think anyway!

I was looking at the AP700. My hubby likes the radion better. Do you think one AP700 will be sufficient for a mixed reef?

I do, with the Reefer 250 foot print and the suggested spread of the AP700 I think that light was made for the 250! But this is just my opinion! haha

But the radion xr30 may not be enough coverage? Sorry for the redundant questions. I just want to make sure if I'm spending this much money I get the right fixture. :)

If you got one XR30, you'd have to run it at 100% and hang it ridiculously high over your tank to get it to cover a 36" length because of the puck layout... not ideal. Look at how close the pucks are spaced on the single fixture. That is why people are suggesting 2 XR15s as you can space the individual pucks on each fixture farther apart for more adequate coverage over the Reefer 250's 36" of length.

Thank you! What are you keeping under the 2 15s?

Mixed reef. SPS, LPS, Zoas, Mushrooms, Nems.. everything lol
I'm slowly increasing my light intensity right now.
I can tell you that at 35% on the XR15 G4s with the SPS AB+ color scheme, I was getting around 100 PAR all around the tank.. up top and on the sandbed.
Measured with an Apogee SQ-520 meter with all the pumps and powerheads on.
In my opinion, measuring through the water ripples will give me the most useful and real world numbers since the tank water should always be moving.

Here's my two XR15's over a 36" tanks...although it's only 12" deep.

Put 2 kessils and 2 xr15 Gen4s and you will be fine lol!!
I use the 2 xr15 Gen 4 and they are perfect. I had a problem with my apex so couldn't get my radions to work so threw on 2 Kessil 160. I have them on for a week and the coral seem to like it. Also noticed less algea blooming with these Kessil. Idk.
Still like the radion better though

Did you ever go with Radions on the 250?

I’m researching my potential build and thinking going with a pair of X15’s.
