I switched over from kessil a360x’s to some
XR30 G5 blues yesterday. While I love the color , it produces a huge glare in my eyes from my viewing position. I sit kind of low , on a couch, about 8-10 feet from the tank. So when I look at my tank I am looking in an upward direction, and the LEDS are right there blazing in my eyes. If I stand in front of the tank, my eyes are level and this does not occur. You can see the differences in the pics. Does anyone have any type of solution for this ? I was thinking maybe the diffusers would help a little?

Yes that is an obvious solution - but I’m afraid that is out of the question for me. I would sooner switch back to kessils

I made some flaps out of heavy plastic, cut to the width of the lights and about 4-6 inches in height, spray painted them black, and used black tape to tape them on the front with the tape half on the plastic sheet, and half on the top edge of the radion. I also have the diffusers. Works well for me.

Hey! Maybe someone can 3D print you a difusser extra deep so it can block most of the light? Why did you change from Kessils 360x to Radions?

I had a collar built as I cannot stand glare or light spill from lights and this is in my living room!

Dang, I might have to think about building something like this. My tank is in the living room too right next to my couch

I got these for my xr15 g5 blues and worked perfect! They just slide on so you don't have to take down lights to install them.. highly recommend
These are for the xr30's that you have:

Howdy,

any chance there are other shades available?
i just made my own by carefully cutting a 5" rectangle shade and use a tie-wrap to the RMS mounts. it looks fine and cuts the glare 100%.
i also should mention i run diffusers are well and while the modestly soften the glare they are in no way an acceptable solution for this.
