I accidentally left a small pouch of carbon in my HOB filter after adding Prazipro. Does it actually absorb the medication? Should I redose?

Prazi does most of its work and is largely gone in 24 hours. I'd wait the 24 and do a 25% water change and then re dose.

GAC absolutely will absorb some Prazi, I used GAC to save a wrasse that was dying from Prazi, it started helping within minutes.

That said, GAC also exhausts quickly, and can be borderline useless within 24 hours itself, depending on how many contaminants are in the water in general.. So the GAC you left in, could have been already "used up" so to speak.

Otherwise, I would err on the side of @Big G's advice, as he's much more knowledgeable than myself on QT topics.

Thanks for the feedback.

@Big G

I think I'll err on the side of caution. I'm going to do a 75% WC tonight and add a new dose to the new water. Not sure how much it matters but the calculator below says today is my treatment day.

Hopefully the remaining 25% of treated water left unchanged won't be enough to overdose the fish? Any thoughts?

Also, is redosing this close, back-to-back like 8hr apart, is that too much exposure to fresh treatment concentration?

The dose of Prazipro at 2.5 as directed on the bottle is a bit hard on some fish. 2.0 dose would be fine. 2.0 is the dose of praziquantel in General Cure and it usually works and does the job.

Well, did a 15gal WC on a 20L QT and redosed full 1tsp of Prazi with new water. Hopefully the Anthias will pull through and get back to eating just fine as it wears off. I think in 48hr I'll do another decent sized WC.

Well, roughly 24hr later I don't think I see any change in the fish. Just FYI as a follow-up.

Thanks for the words. ;)
