It appears my Galaxea is ditching polyps and leaving behind the stony skeleton. So far it looks like 1 or 2 have totally ditched and some others are receding while about half of it looks fine. I noticed this started happening after I moved my coral, thought the flow might be too much so I moved it back to a low flow area and it seems to be getting worse. Any ideas? Ca and Mg are 380 and 1350 respectively, so a little low.

Here's a picture

Galaxea corals are pretty hardy. What are your other perimeters? I had one for years if not a decade. It loved lots of lights and flow. Calcium level is relevant to alk as much as to magnesium

Thanks for the reply. I can't remember exactly what my Alk was when I tested earlier this week but it was around 9dkh. I know it was on the lower end of the target range. It doesn't seem to be happy anywhere I put it.

My Frogspawn seems fine but that's the only other non-softie I have in my tank

I would defanitly get the calc up. I don't think just the flow would do it. Is there a Drastic light difference,

I'm currently transitioning to reef crystals from regular IO to increase all parameters. Is it worth dosing Ca in the meantime as a short term fix? Drastic light difference between the spots where I've moved it? Just from the sand bed to the top of a rock structure initially, 10" closer to the lights perhaps. Then down about 5" to another rock. Now back on the sand. I don't have PAR measurements or anything.

I'm no expert. But I know calcium level is important for their skeletal health. So it may have something to do with them letting go. mine seems happy in most light and flow. I would guess water quality or parasite. Again no expert but I would start there.
