When I first got my tank or year ago I got a small frag of a gelaxiea coral .

This is the one thing I am thinking I regret . Have not seen any sweeper tentacles come out but it is starting to grow rapidly and towards my SPS . Unfortunately I cannot remove the rock that it’s on.

Am I options to stop it growing? Do I do something around the rim to keep it from growing ? In a spot where it can only really grow upward is it on a clif.

I'd move the coral itself. Galaxia corals are notorious for having very long, and very powerful sweepers.

I can’t move it. It has grown on the rock and has encrusted.

It’s true. That Galaxea will murder everything it touches...... Super mean coral.

So what are my options? How do I get rid of it? I can’t remove the rock..

Is your galaxea stony at the base or mat like? Mines is the stony kind and i can break the heads off when they start to grow in areas I dont want it to.

It’s stony it’s hard and crustration like. I’m still thinking of how to remove it. Ether way it might result in damaging it.

Yeah just break it. It's a hardy coral and will grow back, no worries. I'd rather risk breaking off that coral compared to losing a valuable one.

Good luck!

Ok, Im not having sauces removing my galaxia coral. What thing do you think I can find thats plastic and I could "put" over the coral and take away light. Then one day like a few weeks take a peak under? Any ideas?

good luck. I love the galaxia coral but seen sweepers about 6 inches off a 1 inch frag. It was destroying a couple of corals. Scary stuff
