History: Three months after 10 hour tank move about 10 weeks ago. No casualties except most of coralline die off(all rocks and back wall). No algal blooms. Been maintaining alk at 8.3, cal 380 (cant raise), and mag at 1420. CURRENT TANK CONSUMPTION: alk- 16ml, cal- 30 ml, mag- 4ml. Small appearances of red nuisance, carpet, briopsis, and? are starting to appear. Some carpet back wall.

Increased flow and crossed fingers.

I plan to raise mag to 1600 and maintain for 2-3 weeks or til control achieved.

Does calcium to alkalinity ratio indicate some precipitation? 30/16!
Will increased magnesium lessen precipitation and cause cal to increase?
How/if at all, will this affect alkalinity?

Nitrates and phosphates have tested 0’s(riiight). 80 gallon tank, 30 gallon sump, calerpa/rock refugium, protein skimmer, filter socks. Good flow. Coincidental or not, algae started appearing when I changed my gen3 radions for G5 blues.

TEST, TEST, TEST! Does all this sound right? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 30C069C8-66A9-4318-BA56-425C4686B21C.jpeg

If you are worried about bryopsis, try fluconazole. That stuff works very well. I have accidentally had magnesium high (1800) and a lot of my inverts died which is supposedly expected as I saw somewhere that it acts sorata like a sedative at those levels. I have also heard that it is really only kent's magensium that is known to work with bryopsis.

If your corals are secured, have you thought about tuxedo urchins?
