Hey all so I'm building a stand this week for a 55 and wanted to keep it in my garage (my new hangout zone). Anyway I'm in South Carolina and it gets down to 40 in winter and my garage isn't Insulated or heated. I can put it also in my media room or family room if garage is not a good idea.

I will be using a hob overflow box (which I've done int the past no issues) with a reef octo varioS-2 and a float. All in all I'm worried about temps in winter and possible flood if in house.

Is your garage used as a garage? I say this because I have my sump in the garage now and I will be moving it inside very soon. There are lots of negatives to having salt water in a functional garage.

No we don't store cars in there and the gas can/mower are moving to the new shed. I will be doing a little wood work in there but shouldn't be able to get dust/wood in tank area.

Cars and carbon dioxide was one issue.
Sawdust and fumes was the second.
Third is the rust from the evaporation.
Last was temperature control. For us in Florida, cold weather was rarely a concern. For you.... you will definitely need a good heater and controller. I hear inkbird controllers are reliable.

Alright, thank you. Once I have the stand built I'll try placing it in the house and see how I feel. I thought about two heaters in tank and 1 in sump but I'll look at the ink bird in a few minutes. No fumes or toxin/chemicals will be in garage and I'm not worried about the sawdust with location and canopy. Weather is really bumming me a bit but either way I'll enjoy it wherever it's placed.
