Hello all I have a question in regards to having certain equipment in a non climate controlled garage in South Carolina. If I were to have my ATO reservoir (brute trash can), Dosing station, and Algae scrubber in the garage would that amount of my system affect the temp of the tank significantly?

My soon to be dismantled 90 gallon has all of the filtration in the garage. (I'm in Florida.) I do not run heaters or chillers. My temperature does flux up and down with the seasons but I have never had any adverse effects.
The only time I ever ran a heater was when it dropped into the 40's outside. My tank got down to 68 and I broke down and put in a heater.
There are many many reasons why I will never put my sump in the garage again but temp wasn't one of them.
Keep good lids on those containers though. Garage pollution is a big factor in why I am relocating the new build to under the tank indoors.

@CMMorgan thank you. As far as the whole build the sump with the skimmer and return pump are going to be under the tank I just didnt want to clutter that area to much and want to have a larger ATO reservoir. Also if I dont park my cars in the garage do I have to worry to much about pollution?

Depends on what you do in the garage. Even though I have everything in an enclosed cabinet, I am forever amazed at what gets inside. I have found sawdust, bugs ... all kinds of ech. I can also see a much higher evaporation rate in the warmer months - which is 2/3 of the year in Florida.
I would assume that my husband is less careful when I am not around.... WD-40, aerosols... we do a lot in out garage without thinking.
I also have a LOT of rust in my garage due to the high humidity.
Given that you are looking at closed Brute containers vs an open sump... you should have less issues. Just look out for the really cold months. It's much colder up there than here. You don't want things to freeze. Maybe raise them off of the concrete, too.

i have my frag tank in my garage. its a 30 gallon. the best tip i got was to install the reflective foam insulation panels on the garage door. it literally kept my garage cool during the summers (115 degree heat) no chiller needed and warm in the winters. doing that saved a tons on my electrical bill. you can get a large sheet of it at home depot and install them in the panels if your garage door is sectional.

@calimako that could be great. How much did that cost and how hard was it to install?

it just cost me the large reflective foam board from home depot. its been a while but i think i paid like $20-$30 for it. it was 8' or 10' x4' and easily a garage door. here is a sample picture of what i am talking about.
installation was easy as all you have to do is cut the board to match your panels and pop them in. (took me a couple hours) and make sure the thickness of the board matches the space in your panels. there are a bunch of youtube videos on how to do this. g'luck

this is one of the videos i used when i did my install
i would suggest getting the reflective boards as that helps retain the heat/cool better in the garage.
this was the boards i used
again make sure the thickness matches the gap in your panels. and make sure you bring a truck as these boards are huge

its all coming back to me now..
couple of tips. you dont need a circ saw to cut the boards. i literally used a heavy duty razor blade, scored and snapped. worked fine.
and i didnt glue them to the panels. if you size it right, they will pop in sung and do not need to be glued in.
lastly i didnt need to do use any foam spray to seal up the gaps as my cut panels matched the space perfectly and there were no gaps. was a real simple install for me and something that totally saved my frag tank
