I've got a 5 gallon tank with an HOB filter, live rock, and sand (can add plenty more sand) and was using it as a QT tank but since I don't plan on any new fish anytime soon I was thinking about maybe putting a garden Eel in there with some bumblebee snails and a few other inverts...would a small garden Eel be ok in a 5 gallon? All thoughts are welcome.

Not personal experience, but @lion king mentioned on a previous thread that it would be difficult to maintain a garden eel in a 20g.

Going on that I would highly advise against putting one in a tank 1/4 of that size. The depth of the sand bed alone will drastically decrease the already small water volume.

I think stick to his advice and give the eel a skip :)

Ok, I may be stubborn at times and go against the status quo based on my own instincts but judging just by the first two comments I won't be getting a garden Eel for the tank...it was a nice thought but if it just won't work out, it just won't work out...thanks for the advice guys!
