garden eels with coral

There is no way to answer this question, IMHO. BUT, since they are considered to be reef safe', I would imagine there would be no problem. For example - all coral, etc can 'sting' But it is usually the fish attacking the coral that is the worry, not the other way around. I would personally not be concerned - unless the concentration of coral in your tank is really high - as compared to the swimming area.

Curious what are you planning to feed the eels

zooplankton and fish eggs. Maybe cut up mysis as well. At the beginning plan to feed 3-4 times a day, after a while will make it 2 times a day

so garden eels live in deeper sand (8* inch min) and as long as they have distance from a stinging coral they are good, its more so making sure the coral doesn't need too much or too little flow or light to be compatible with the eel.
