i know what to feed, zooplankton and fish eggs, but the only zooplankton for sale i can find is for corals. Is it ok to feed the garden eels that zooplankton, or is there a special mix for them?

It is mostly about size - I've fed garden eels live artemia nauplii, so anything larger than about 500 microns is fine. Coral food in a bottle may be smaller than that. They'll take adult artemia, as well as mysid shrimp (although you may need to dice those up with a razor blade to get that a bit smaller.
