Has any one purchased the bag of bugs? Seems like you get a large degree of diversity with this product but the web site seems kinda sketchy. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this product.

Website seems kind of sketchy, lol. That's a funny way to say ancient.Has any one purchased the bag of bugs? Seems like you get a large degree of diversity with this product but the web site seems kinda sketchy. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this product.
Np, i basically thought the same when i saw the site.. i went back to my friend (long time reefer) and asked if they were serious or busting me. I feel like most new reefers just buy a bottle or two of bacteria and cultures of specific species of pods etc. Not that theres anything wrong with that but i have wondered if this new way means we are missing some microbiology that slowly gets added when we add coral and rocks that have been in contact with auctual ocean life and take longer to balance out because of it.. i dont know the answer, its beyond my knowledge but figured id take a leaf outta the long time reefer book and add some grunge. I cant say this is definitely what made my reef work but i feel like it didnt hurt and my Mandarin seems to love the variety of munchiesThanks. I did email them and got a response. Just wondering if people were happy with what they received.

What is the website ?
It seems like I rarely receive any good hitchhikers anymore when buying frags and such. Even the dealers have become more sterile. After a seam busted on my tank a year and a half ago I lost all my mini stars, stomattels, pods and most worms. The bag looks like a good way to re-establish some of thisI wonder if after going hard to sterile tanks if we aren't going to witness something like garf seeded tanks becoming the new norm. Bag o bugs, some grunge, and ipsf wonder mud in an otherwise dry rock start.
I remember this from years ago when I did a reef in the 90ies then got out of it and now I'm back.It seems like I rarely receive any good hitchhikers anymore when buying frags and such. When rebuilding my system, after going back and forth between starting with live or dry rock that was my hybrid compromise. I feel like it worked well for me and i got the best of the dry rock scaping and good ocean critters without the pests.I wonder if after going hard to sterile tanks if we aren't going to witness something like garf seeded tanks becoming the new norm. You can also get a lot of that stuff from Indo-Pacific Sea Farms. Gerald Heslinga runs it out of the Hawaii Ocean Science and Technology (HOST) Park in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Offers a lot of different 'reef tune-up kits' as well as mix-and-match options for reef mud, various snails, amphipods, mini brittle stars, etc.It seems like I rarely receive any good hitchhikers anymore when buying frags and such. Thanks, I've visited this site before. Seems somewhat more expensive but more specific to what you wantYou can also get a lot of that stuff from Indo-Pacific Sea Farms. Yea, I plan on buying it also. It took them around five days to respond to my first email so stay patient. I emailed them yesterday for a quote with shipping and I'm waiting on thatI remember this from years ago when I did a reef in the 90ies then got out of it and now I'm back.
I agree with you back then I had tons of stuff that came on the rock and in the sand.
I am going to email them and get the bag its 39.00 can't get anything for that price for our tanks now of days. So what the heck can't hurt.
I went with the old standby of mixed liverock, Gulf in this case, with dry rock. I did about 30/70 split. Seeing just how gross the dry rock is, hats off to the few that manage to do a 100% dry rock and battled bacteria start without it getting to be a total mess. Years ago when I was in the hobby I started with a 29g with nothing but Fiji. Worked great, no mess, just one late night hunting down a gorilla crab. When rebuilding my system, after going back and forth between starting with live or dry rock that was my hybrid compromise. I pretty much view aiptasia as inevitable. I stay on top of it, nuke any that I see within a day or two of spotting them but never really think there will be a time without them. I've got two slated for execution tomorrow. That'll put me back to zero, but I'm sure there is one watching from shadows.I did my 30g in dry rock. It is thriving my rbta's are splitting like crazy and everything is good but I just hate the look of it just don't like it I should of went with the purple color rock instead of the basic white dry rock.
I did my 120g with 100% LR a few dry pcs for base
I did buy 1 pc of LR from a lfs and I have a ton of aptistia now I think it got into the back its a aio
The 120 is perfect so idk the 30 must be doing great everything is thriving but just hate the look lol
