Odd that the water is that color. I would pout into a separate container to see what is alive in there then try to fish those things out and place in sump/refugium. If placing in display and have fish, I would do that at night otherwise the fish, depending on what you have might eat all the pods.

Pour all of it right in, preferably while the fish aren't looking. Don't strain it, that's how it looks.

Looks like barf I would not add it to my dirty little tank. I had good results from indo pacific farms.

To differentiate that from a bag of skimmate can you access a cheap microscope any practical way so we can see a pic of 100x

any smartphone cam can be held 1/100th inch above the objective lens, tilted just right, for a perfect smartphone relay. does not require a photo scope I use a 1968 high school scope someone gave to me for my clear pics by slide + common galaxy smartphone. Until ID’d that looks like skimmate. They’ll claim the goodies are complexed in

hashtag pod audit hashtag operation ruleout skimmate

I'd smell if first to see if you can detect the odor of H2S - that bag looks kinda hypoxic

It's not skimmate lol. GARF has a lot of history in this hobby. None of you have ever ordered anything from GARF obviously. It's basically mulm from their VERY established systems full of diversity for your system.

I will say I did have a similar idea to Bag O Bugs -- I live in an area with cold water bays and whatnot and had wondered if collecting some water/sediment and filitering it with maybe a 100 micron sock could help improve bacterial diversity since these are cold water bacteria being added to a reef

So do I dump it in my fuge?

We’re missing getting to see the ratio of motile items to detritus particles

i know it’s not literal skimmate but I’d rather have concentrated pods and not just add eight months bioload waste too, wish we could see a pic somehow

heck even the iPhone 13s can do killer macro zoom I think, poured out on a white sheet of plastic and teased out small area I bet would give some detail on that setting

I want to buy pods but specifically a clean, clear water suspension of gammarids crawling over each other and then some suspended pods if took time to sample pic 100x

can we just buy a real clean visual bag of wigglers or not. I’ve seen tisbe/ tiger pods from ocean nutrition at pet store / would be neat if we could get the curly little classic gammarids by the hundred lot.

It may serve to be a good sales testimony for them too. If theres lots of annulid worms, segmented organisms, ciliated and fuzzy round organisms, and not 50% or greater organic aggregates but clearly moving animals that will be neat to see

those will be too small for us to see in the bag/ appears as sludge suspended/ but on 100x you should be able to see them as standout farmed and concentrated vs just a sample of anyone’s sandbed pull.

This product is essentially the same thing as asking a friend back in the day for a scoop of mud out of their very established system to kick start yours with micro fauna and bacteria. Just put it in, it's what you paid for. Fear not, jeez people!
