My GARF Bonsai had been losing color due to very low NO3 and PO4, but since I started bringing up those nutrient levels the colors have improved dramatically.

30 ppm nitrate and very close to the surface. I’ve always had great response from this coral with lots of nutrient and lots of light. This was a pic from last year. Now I’m running at more like 20 ppm nitrate and my bonsai colony is lower in the tank. Still growing well but not quite as vibrant.

This is definitely one that will get darker, deeper colors with more building blocks. Red planet is like that too along with most of the monochrome acros.

You can really darken up a bonsai by giving it lots of light, but it is not even close to necessary and does well at lower light levels.
