Garf Bonsai Vs Bali tricolor

polyps really glow bright on the garf. Color I think is deeper/less transparent on the tricolor (valida) IMO. Plus the valida gets a green base I believe. I think the bonsai is a little hardier. I lost my tricolor twice. Once in a crash. Once for no apparent reason. The valida I had both got nice green polyps as well but IMO the bonsai is brighter.

Bonsai i see many places refer it as a tri-color. But bonsai are generally purple with green polyps. Tri-color can vary from purple to blue toward the new growth ends. Older growth in bright green and also can get brown in very low areas of growth. This is the area that generally gets less light. A true tri-color 3 colors on the coral body, excluding the polyps color. Polyps just like bonsai are generally bright neon green. Tri-color polyps also seem to be have greater extension. My bonsai seem more like bright green pumps. All tri-colors i have had are faster growers than my bonsai. And take brighter light. Bonsai seem to fade if too close to my halides. Tri-color seem to prefer it.

Under the right lighting Bali Tri color will produce purple tips and eventually mostly purple base with neon greenish polyps. Here's a pic of a frag I have.

Garf Bozi under right lighting will have a lighter hue of purple tips and more of a greenish brown base with neon green polyps.

I cant post any pictures at the moment, but the GARF Purple Bonsai and Bali Tri-Color are instantly distinguishable, provided you have the "true" GARF Bonsai. While the Tri-color tends to be paler, more branching, and overall less luminescent, the GARF Bonsai has a solid deep purple base, incredible bright green polyps and grows in a tighter grouping.

When I get a chance I will post up a few photos. But, setting both corals next to each other the GARF is many times more appealing to look at. The green polyps set against the deep purple base is so striking that it was always the first coral that caught my eye in my display tank.

The LE Bali Tri Color from reef farmers that I have is easily distinguishable like you said from my Garf Bonzi so idk about regular Tri colors vs Garf Bonzi. Others on this thread seem to have better information on that comparison.

I have two frags. One receives more light than the other and the one receiving more light has purple color to it. The polyps pop more than the other one that is in quarantine yet.

I don't have good pics of my Tricolor valida but it has more shades of color, whiteish shades on the purple branches and green tips. The polyps are bright green also but they don't stand out to me like the Garf bonsai.

This is the Reef farmers (Tyree) Bali tricolor. Looks like Garf bonsai but blue instead of purple. The growing tips in higher light get a purple tint to them. This is one coral that looks totally different under all white light or a white/blue mix.
