garlic guard in the hospital/quarantine

hi guys, i'm treating my clownfish for ich in a 20 gallon through hyposalinity and he started to only eat about three pieces of shrimp when i'd try to feed him which for him is basically not eating. i got some garlic guard yesterday and have been soaking his food before giving it to him and he's eating about four or five times as much, almost normal again. any thoughts on the stuff? i've read that it's a myth that it helps with marine ich and it only helps fresh water fish. i've also heard it can cause liver damage? either way, i think it's going to save his life because he was for sure losing his appetite. i'm just curious about other people's thoughts and experiences.

I got a black clown about less than a month ago and the next day he had ich.
So i went to my LFS and he recommended this powder by seachem and all up do intake a scoop and mix with food and make a paste and then I added garlic guard. My fish eat anything and never had a prob from day one. With the meds and garlic it was gone in 3 weeks. I did loose one chromis which had to contract ich.

Metronidazole is great for curing ich and is coral safe. Ysed in many coral tanks. Kanaplex is another product they make which is good for pop eye or fungus. I personally have always used vitamins in my fish food every day. Hufa,garlic, multivitam, and vitamin c. Never lost a fish to disease in my tank. Good luck with your fish

do you think i should buy some metronidazole for him? he's in a hospital so i'm not worried about corals or inverts but that's great to know. i've never found that you can use that, i would have tried it before taking all of my fish out of the reef. we had five out of six fish die in a 70 gallon hospital in a matter for 24 hours last weekend. it really sucked. i'm for sure going to look into vitamin c and stuff like that for future fish and obviously set up a quarantine. i was thinking about feeding fish in qt medicated food.. i'll do more research once bill (the clown) is ready to go home. any thoughts? and thanks a bunch.

Get the med and use with garlic guard give it a couple weeks and should clear it all up. But its only if they are eating food. If not then you have a diff road to go.

just curius how do you add these vitamins to the food? i always use frozen mysis,bloodworms, sometimes black worms, ets but how exactly do you i guess (enrich) the food?

he's not doing very well at all, i'm actually surprised he's still kickin' it today. he'll kinda lay on his side which i mean that's how he'd sleep usually when he was healthy, but now it's mostly what he's doing and it doesn't seem to good. he shows little interest in food again, eats a little bit but not enough for me to feel good about it. :[

he's still alive today, i raised the pH a bit and now he's a bit more upright and when the lights are off he even swims a bit. i don't know what's really going on, he won't eat. :/ but we had three blue reef chromies, a spotted mandarin, a hectors goby and a lawnmower blenny. we got the ich from the chromies, all the other fish we had in an old 29 gallon and have had them for quite a bit. we really messed up by not having a QT set up, it finally bit us in the butts. we took all the fish out of the 55 reef when we noticed the ich, put them all in a 70 hospital and they just started to die off before we could even really start hyposalinity. i think the 'strain' was really strong. the hector's goby never made it out of the reef, it got him quick.

i know at this point it'd be literally amazing if he made it 'cause he needs to start eating again but do you think that if he seems more comfortable with the lights off i should keep them off? i know pH is different at night, not sure if it's from the lights but that's what i'd assume. we have an old fixture on it from the 29, the bulbs are out of spectrum but it's a decent amount of light on a 20 long. like i'd use it for a reef in that tank and i know i've read to use dim lights for ich.

i'm going to open a new thread on this but i'll throw in before so that around the time the lights would have come on and didn't, he started swimming around like completely normal. all parameters are the same. hopefully i can get him to eat in a little bit. there's still pods in there 'cause it's not quite in hypo, i think he may be eating them.
